The SCARPA® Team closed the ski mountaineering season with tremendous and well-deserved celebrations. The great Matteo Eydallin triumphed this morning at the Mezzalama Trophy, earning the top step on the podium and the coveted international title of the Grande Course.
A season practically without any snow did not prevent the organizers of ski mountaineering events from retrieving challenging trails, especially for the stages on the Pyrenees during the World Cup. Athletes tapped into all of their determination and broad understanding of the mountains to demonstrate the results of careful training during both the individual and couples competitions.
Beginning with the Alpago Piancavallo Ski Mountaineering World Championship, the SCARPA® Team collected excellent results on the podiums of the various competitions: in the individual competitions, 2 gold medals around the necks of Davide Magnini and Giulia Murada (Junior class) and a gold medal went to Federico Nicolini (Espoir class); team competitions brought a gold medal to the team with Matteo Eydallin and a silver to the team with Robert Antonioli.
SCARPA® rejoiced with its team during the World Cup as well: Robert Antonioli single-handedly brought home three trophies: the most important, the victory for the absolute classification along with the specialty gold medal for Sprint and silver for individual specialties.
In the Junior class, Davide Magnini and Giulia Murada won all the specialties - Individual, Vertical and Sprint while Federico Nicolini was the absolute winner in the Men’s Espoir class, earning the Vertical class specialty as well.
Matteo Eydallin won the Individual specialty gold medal, Katia Tomatis brought home two bronze medals for the Individual and Vertical specialties. There were also three great acknowledgements for Giulia Compagnoni who earned the second step on the podium for both the overall Espoir class and Vertical along with a bronze for the Individual specialties.
Last but not least, today the SCARPA® Team is celebrating Matteo Eydallin’s absolute 1st place in the challenging and coveted Grande Course (his second 1st place after the outstanding performance at the Pietra Menta last March). This is the fourth triumph at the Mezzalama trophy for SCARPA® Team champion and his mates from the CS Esercito. Matteo has this to say: «Yes, a fourth victory, but I always compete as if it was my first time without considering the numbers! ». An exhausting competition in the cold that finished in 04:18:50.
