If I had to say what ski touring means to me, I would say that it is “to gain a unique and exciting downhill, after a difficult uphill”. This is how Federico, who everybody calls Kikko, describe his fondness for ski touring, the discipline that last Sunday crowned him “World Champion 2014, Juniores category” in Les Diablerets, Switzerland. He got before Spanish Oriol Cardona Coll and Swiss Remì Bonnet. A successful season, which saw Federico always on the podium.
But beyond the medals, Federico “Kikko” Nicolini is a great athlete with an infectious smile, a boy who always says the right words at the right time. When something goes wrong, he always takes the blame, while when things goes well he thanks the whole team, this is Kikko!
A 18-year-boy with the veteran’s modesty, who is fond of the mountain (…he works in the mountain dew, he goes skiing, running, paragliding too) because his father (Franco Franz Nicolini, Alpine Guide, Alpinist and SCARPA man alla long) has inside the values of the mountain man.
SCARPA team congratulates you, Kikko, and thank you for this beautiful World Cup that you won and that you gave as a present to us and to the Ski mountaineering Italian Team!
Go “ falopa”, go!
