SCARPA  and RECCO^® have joined forces to form a powerful partnership and are set to present the brand new F1 at ISPO 2018, the first ski mountaineering boot to feature the RECCO^® system.

“The new version of the F1 will be the first boot designed for ski mountaineering to hit the market and to have an in-built Recco tracking system, we are extremely pleased to have finally gotten started on this collaboration with this prestigious Swedish company: for SCARPA, safety is crucial. From here on, we can offer our loyal customers technology that reduces search and rescue times for missing persons and avalanche victims to a minimum”.

The F1 has successfully anticipated and interpreted the demand for increased safety desired by ski mountaineers. This is a significant leap forward for mountaineering enthusiasts more generally who will get additional help – in terms of safety – when practising the sport.

The new ski boot integrates a RECCO^® reflector able to track missing persons. The technology works via a detector, which is used by the rescue services, and a reflector, built into the individual sports gear: the detector is used by professional responders to locate the reflector, which is “worn” by the skier. Built right into the boot, the RECCO^® reflector doesn't need a battery, is always on and needs no maintenance, and always echoes and responds to the harmonic radar of the detector.

The new F1 will be available from Autumn/Winter 2018/19.
