Kimshung Expedition 2015

Giampaolo Corona and Francois Cazzanelli ready for climbing the Kimshung 6781 metri

The departure is scheduled for April 24. Once in Kathmandu, François Cazzanelli and Giampaolo Corona will face one day of travelling by jeep and then three days of trekking to reach the village of Langtang (3430 meters) and from there to the base camp, where the real adventure will start for real.

Kimshung (6781m) is an untouched mountain, which is located in the Langtang massif, north of Katmandu.
The goal is to reach the summit, hopefully in alpine style through a series of gullys and channels of snow on the southwest face.

“It was a hard decision to make regarding the size of the team but after much deliberation we decided that a small team which is contemporary and light is the most honest way to tackle this new Himalayan challenge.” Says Giampaolo, who has already summit six eight thousand without oxygen (Makalu,Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Lhotse, Gasherbrum II and Dhaulagiri). Great enthusiasm also by the young François (1990), a talented mountaineer,  strong in rock climbing (grade 8A +), in skimo race (among the top 15 in the latest edition of Adamello Ski Raid) and author of a new route on the west face of the Churen Himal 7371 mt in the massif of Dhaulagiri in 2012.
François and Giampaolo will use PHANTM for the attempt to Kimshung.
Good luck for the success of the expedition from all the Team SCARPA®.
