The route setters gave our athletes a true challenge this week: long, difficult routes with little rest and many awkward passages. None of the competitors were able to top the tough routes, making the competition all the more suspenseful!
The competition was crowned by another long and impressive run from the Slovenian climber Mina Markovic. Even if Mina run out of time, she achieved to climb higher than the other athletes. From Slovenia too, the only 16 years old climber Janja Garnbret took the second place. An awesome performance for her second participation to an IFSC World Cup. Supported by her public, Jessica Pilz came in third place like last year, here at Imst.
On the men's side, the route was not so easy at all. But Romain Desgranges found the way and the strength to win his first gold medal. Very close to him, Jakob Schubert took silver with 57 (vs 57+ for Romain), and Slovenian's Domen Skofic claimed bronze with a score of 51+.
