At SCARPA sustainability is a natural imperative; it has always guided our way of doing business.
No shoe can be 100% sustainable. This is why our perpetual goal is to improve the environmental and social sustainability profile of everything we do along the entire life cycle, from raw materials to product recycling.
WE FEEL WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS THE GENERATIONS OF TODAY AND OF THE FUTURE.
Our path to sustainable innovation is concrete, it has measurable targets and uses the world’s most robust assessment standards as a benchmark. This makes the authentic vision of our commitment clear, both to us and our stakeholders.
Care and attention are at the core of every SCARPA product, in order to achieve maximum quality and durability.
This, too, is sustainability: we don’t care for planned obsolescence because we value time and nature together with reducing consumption and waste. Care for the product, Care for people and Care for the Earth.
CARE - A MIX OF EXPERIENCE, CRAFTSMANSHIP, SKILL AND PASSION - IS WHAT GIVES YOU THAT VERY IMPORTANT SENSE OF “SECURITY” (SINE-CURA) THAT LETS YOU CONNECT WITH THE MOUNTAIN AND FULLY EXPERIENCE THE ENVIRONMENT.
You have the knowledge that your shoes - the extreme point of connection between a human being and planet Earth - will do their job and create a symbiotic relationship with the elements, be they rock, snow, ice or soil. But for us care is also about concern and awareness, , to ensure working conditions and processes are always respectful of nature and, most importantly, people.
At SCARPA, our vocation is the outdoors, the open air, an active yet relaxed lifestyle that prefers the slow-paced feel of a walk, the effort of the ascent and the enjoyment of contemplating the landscape.
Air and freedom are basic human needs. We are animals that have evolved over millions of years, interdependent with nature. Spend a few minutes in nature and you’ll quickly rediscover what moves you deep inside. We build houses, places for work and vehicles to travel faster, but our true nature is to live outside, breathe, move with our own bodies.
WALKING IS THE GREENEST AND MOST SUSTAINABLE WAY TO MOVE FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER AND TURN EVERY JOURNEY INTO AN ADVENTURE.
This is because our desire to explore, to reach for the top can also be felt in the small things; it becomes a way of tackling situations, a metaphor for life. We are all connected by a single thread, like in a rope team.
For SCARPA, respect is the highest form of devotion and recognition. It is the very foundation of coexistence and regards not only relationships between human beings, but also those between human beings and the mountains, between human beings and the environment.
Treat others the way you want to be treated is the Golden Rule that translates respect into practice, and it has been known throughout millennia by every culture on the planet. It is not about being first to the top; it is not about speed. It is about goals and results.
RESPECT MEANS TO LOOK AGAIN, TO LOOK BACK AND TO REGARD, WITH OUR OWN EYES AND THROUGH THE EYES OF OTHERS.
Mountaineers and climbers know it all too well: a mountain demands respect. The attention it deserves is without fear, but with the awareness that there’s no room for superficiality, that the only possible way to tackle an ascent is with a focused mind. Respect also means knowing the rules, adopting the best quality standards, certifying excellence with the humility of a quick learner. We want to do more. We want to make respect our way of life: everything we do stems from this awareness.
SCARPA is a technical company. We have been at the cutting edge of technology ever since our inception. That is because our passion is to make high-performance products that are as sustainable as they can be.
It is not about being first to the top; it is not about speed. It is about goals and results.
TO PER-FORM MEANS TO GIVE SHAPE TO ONE’S DREAMS, WHATEVER THEY MAY BE, AND TO DO IT IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE, WITH MAXIMUM SAFETY AND THE MAXIMUM RESPECT.
Our new eco products maintain the essential reliability that our customers have come to trust, while being sensitive to the environment: they use innovative technologies and processes, biodegradable and plant-based materials, non-polluting water-based adhesives and recycled paper packaging.
Our idea of performance embraces a broader philosophy, not just athletic results: it means being the best version of oneself at each moment and in every setting.
SCARPA is as you see it, authentic, no filters. Our history speaks volumes about us: opened in 1938, our company grew year after year through experiences, innovative ideas and goals.
A sustainable growth strategy, made to last. It has been a slow journey, travelled with preparation, humility, commitment and determination together with our partners and all the mountaineers and climbers who never stopped believing in us and helped us to better ourselves. And it has been a real journey, always at our customers’ side, the enthusiasts we have accompanied, supported and encouraged in their personal itinerary to their personal best. No aim is too high when the strength that moves us is authentic and deeply rooted.
NO PLACE TOO FAR.
The first contribution to sustainability is to create a product that lasts and, once necessary, can be easily repaired.
Extending the life of products is the best way we have to take care of the environment, by reducing resource consumption and waste production.
That's why we build our products so they can be resoled. How to match performance with sustainability? With quality materials, glues and rubbers, as well as cutting-edge technologies and designs.
90% of manufacturing and materials supply takes place in Europe, under highly advanced regulatory criteria.
The photovoltaic systems installed on the company's buildings produce approximately 400,000 kWh of energy, equivalent to savings of some 320 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
More than half of the production is carried out entirely in Italy, guaranteeing high standards and quality.

The selling of this limited-edition of 2022 pairs, is going to support POW Project (Protect Our Winters), an organization that’s committed to protect the environment and the places where we all live, from climate changes.
Mojito Bio represents a fundamental step in terms of sustainable production. It is certified 100% biodegradable, from Intertek.
After 45 days under controlled conditions, the percentage of biodegradability of the materials of the sole, tread and upper is already between 6% and 8% when the average for normal shoes is 0%.
In the development of the shoe, production steps were simplified.
The performance and durability of the fit remain unchanged.
The materials used to make this shoe are eco-sustainable and have a reduced environmental impact: the upper is made of 70% recycled and 30% organic Canvas cotton. The laces are made of 100% recycled PE, derived from packaging materials, bottles and food containers. The PRESA® sole consists of a compressed medium-density EVA midsole and the outsole is made of 40% recycled rubber and 30% natural rubber.
The ongoing GREEN LAB effort is dedicated to experimentation on the most innovative sustainable solutions and design.
We work together with selected partners with whom we share attention and the will to improve our environmental impact, without sacrificing any performance.
Pebax® Rnew is produced using renewable energy and low CO2 emissions; a first step towards reducing our footprint on the earth. Avoid waste, prioritize renewables and limit our environmental impact: this is the recipe for a clean environmental conscience.
